Artist statement
Kayla is an interdisciplinary printmaker and writer from Louisiana. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Louisiana State University in 2023. She is currently a graduate student at the University of Georgia interested in curating experiences by merging intersections between education, fine arts, and social practice utilizing print/making.
Kayla views print/making as a mode of unification, connecting and generating dialogue across various communities, disciplines, and dimensions in time and space. Her practice investigates the history of Black resistance towards liberation and restoration.
