journey through black history
During my year as a resident assistant, I was able to curate educational and interactive programs, bulletin boards, informational graphics, and more. Journey through Black History was one of the programs I organized with the help of 3 other resident assistants. Students interacted on a multi-sensory journey within 3 residential buildings. As part of Black History Month each of the 3 hall lobbies of the LSU Agricultural Community ( BAM) represented different periods of African American History: Acadian - Motherland, Blake - Present, McVoy - Civil Rights) Guest speakers, performers, and local organizations from LSU and the Baton Rouge community were present in a video format showcased within each lobby. Traditional food staples: hushpuppies, pancakes, and cupcakes from a local bakery, Cupcake Junkie were served. In addition to food and guest speakers, each hall had a music playlist catered to each historic period. This event won program of the year by the LSU Residence Hall Association (RHA).
