Summer in italy

This past summer, I spent a month in Florence, Italy learning about Renaissance art and architecture. Art-making and art observation became intertwined throughout my time in the studio and various museums such as Museo di San Marco, the Uffizi Gallery, Bargello Museum, Museo dell opera Metropolitano del Duomo, and Strozzi Palace.

My favorite part of the study abroad experience was visiting the Fabriano Paper and Watermark Museum. As a printmaker, I was fascinated to discover Fabriano’s longstanding tradition of papermaking, its historical development, and details on the technique for obtaining intricate watermarks.
